Fulbright Amazonia, an international, multi-disciplinary collaboration of scholars investigating topics related to the Amazon Basin, kicked off its inaugural program with a meeting in Belém, Brazil from June 18 to 22, 2023.
Alexandra Papadopoulou, a distinguished member of the Greek Foreign Service who was a Fulbright Foreign Student from Greece, has been appointed as the country’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Since 2020, she has represented her country as the Ambassador of Greece to the United States, the first woman to serve in that role.
Fourteen Fulbright Alumni — mid-career scholars, writers, artists, and scientists — were recognized for their scholarship, creative ability, and potential to make an impact in their respective field.
Scholars will investigate the Amazon region’s most pressing challenges to inform public policy.
From April 24-28 Fulbright Arctic Initiative scholars from all eight Arctic nations will meet with other Arctic experts and government officials in Washington, D.C. to present their research and policy recommendations.
